S-131 Firefighter Type I Training


Natural Areas Training Academy offers S-131 Training Online Self-paced Nov 1-14 with Live Virtual Session on Nov 16 (8:00am-12:00pm EST)

Registration Fee: $75, if registered by October 31. LATE fee of $90 will apply if registering after October 31 through November 7 .

All participants MUST have wildland fire experience including having been on a minimum of 3 burns before taking this training and must have evidence of having completed S-130/190 (Basic Wildland Firefighter training) prior to this course. 

This is a National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) training course designed for individuals with wildland fire experience who are currently qualified as a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2), and who desire to be qualified as a Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) or Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5) in the National Interagency Incident Management System: Wildland Fire Qualification System Guide (PMS 310-1).

This course will explore fireline reference materials, communications, tactical decision making, position responsibilities, and operational leadership.

*Note: S-133 is no longer offered; material previously covered in that course is now covered during the S-131 course.
